Insertion averaging pitot tube flowmeter delivering stable, low-loss flow measurements – ideal for larger lines or energy-saving flow metering applications.

Averaging Pitot Tube flow sensor (multi-port pitot) providing low-pressure-loss flow measurement for liquids, gases, or steam. It inserts into the pipe and averages the flow velocity profile via multiple sensing ports.

Offered in various configurations; generally covers pipe diameters from a few inches up to large ducts (even >3 m) by selecting appropriate models. Generates a differential pressure proportional to flow squared, with minimal permanent pressure drop (<1% of DP). Typical turndown 10:1 or better, with repeatability ~0.1%. Constructed from stainless steel or alloys for strength and corrosion resistance, and can be supplied in retractable or flanged fixed designs as needed.

Technical datasheets (DP flow tube FPD350 series) available, covering dimensions and coefficients. Installation and performance guidelines provided by manufacturer.

Used across industries for flow monitoring where head loss must be minimized – e.g. HVAC ducts, combustion air, large cooling water lines, or stack flows. Also common in oil & gas production and chemical plants for monitoring air, fuel gas, or water flow with low pressure drop. Handles clean fluids and can tolerate some entrained solids due to its open design.

Vendor offers sizing and selection software (e.g. “Solve” tool) to help configure the averaging pitot tube for a given application. Users input pipe size and flow conditions to receive the appropriate model and predicted DP.
