Category Pitot Tube Flow
Multiport self-averaging flow element (averaging pitot) that measures flow by sampling velocities at multiple points across the pipe cross-section. Provides an averaged differential pressure reading with very low permanent pressure loss.
Covers a wide flow range and pipe sizes (from ~50 mm up to very large diameters) by appropriate probe sizing. The device’s design yields an accurate DP output even at low Reynolds numbers; can measure flow in turbulent or limited-straight-run conditions. Repeatability ~0.1% and typical accuracy within 1–2% of reading when properly calibrated. Stainless steel construction and available in both fixed and retractable mounting styles. Low pressure drop (energy loss) due to streamlined probe shape.
Product data for the FPD350 series is provided (covering all T-series models) in vendor literature. It includes flow coefficient data and installation requirements.
Commonly applied for flow measurement in industrial plants for air, natural gas, steam, or water where minimal pressure loss is desired – such as combustion air flow to boilers, ventilation systems, or large cooling water lines. Performs well even with some flow profile distortion, making it suitable for retrofit installations in existing piping.
Sizing/configuration tools (including online calculators from the manufacturer) help select the correct probe model and predict differential pressure at desired flow rates.
