Armored-Metal Rotameter FAM545
Armored Variable Area Flowmeter

Categories:
A corrosion-resistant metal tube variable area flowmeter that uses a PTFE-lined tube and often a PTFE-coated float to handle aggressive chemicals. It’s an armored rotameter variant designed for highly corrosive fluid service.
Similar size and range capabilities (½″ to 4″ lines, up to ~120 m³/h water flow) but using a PTFE lining in the metering tube and PTFE (or other non-metallic) float to resist corrosive fluids. Max operating pressure and temperature may be somewhat reduced due to the liner (e.g. typically up to ~16 bar and 150 °C, depending on liner thickness). Accuracy is Class 2.5 (±2.5% FS) since the PTFE-lined tube can introduce more variability. End connections are usually flanged in corrosion-resistant alloys, and all wetted surfaces are inert.
Specifications are included in the FAM540 series documentation, noting the PTFE-lined model’s performance and limits (marked as optional “Aggressive fluids” version).
Applied in chemical processing, wastewater treatment, or any application measuring strong acids, bases, or other reactive fluids where metal parts must be protected. Examples: acid circulation lines, caustic soda feed, or chlorine dosing flow monitoring. The PTFE lining ensures the process fluid only contacts inert surfaces, preventing corrosion and contamination.
The standard rotameter selection software accounts for the PTFE-lined option, flagging the FAM545 for corrosive service and adjusting for its slight accuracy difference.
