High visibility glass variable area flowmeter
A general-purpose glass-tube variable area flowmeter (VA Master series) for low-to-medium flow rates. It uses a float inside a vertical tapered borosilicate glass tube to indicate flow, and is designed with guided float stabilizers for repeatable measurements.
The McMenon FMG1195 is a precision-engineered electromagnetic flow meter designed to deliver accurate, obstruction-free measurement of conductive liquids. Ideal for clean water, wastewater, and chemically aggressive fluids, it offers reliable, calibration-stable performance without moving parts.
Equipped with a corrosion-resistant liner and versatile flange or wafer mounting, the FMG1195 excels in medium to large flow pipelines where minimal pressure loss and continuous monitoring are critical. With integration-ready outputs and support for remote diagnostics, it ensures operational visibility and accountability across infrastructure sectors.
Aligned with Eleven57 Energy’s mission, the FMG1195 contributes to smarter, more equitable resource management by enabling measurable, low-maintenance monitoring for sustainable liquid transport systems.
Applications: water treatment, municipal utility flow, chemical dosing verification, industrial fluid transfer, system auditing.
Features and Specifications
Covers a wide variety of fluids and flow ranges by swapping floats and tubes: water flows from ~0.002 l/h up to ~17.6 m³/h (17600 l/h) in the largest tube. 1/4″ to 2″ connection sizes available – the FGM1195 version typically has threaded pipe connections (per DIN 2950) for inline mounting. Can handle aggressive fluids by choosing appropriate float and fitting materials (stainless steel, glass, sapphire, Tantalum, PVC, etc. for wetted parts). Max operating pressure ~18 bar and temp up to 180 °C. Accuracy class ranges from 1.6% in larger sizes to 6% in smaller ones. Easily cleaned or serviced by tube removal without uninstalling the meter.

Solutions and Applications
Used in many industries for local flow indication of transparent fluids. Common applications include cooling water or brine flow indication, inert gas flow in manufacturing, or solvent flow monitoring in chemical skids. Because wetted parts can be chosen (e.g. all-PVC option), it’s also applied in water treatment and aquaculture. Its float-guiding ribs ensure stable readings even in pulsating flows.

Tools and Resources
ABB’s variable area flowmeter selection assistant helps pick the right tube/float combination for the required flow and fluid. The FGM1195 (threaded model) is one of the standard configurations in that tool’s library.
